Hi Guys,
I bought an MDR a while back and with it I received this UGLY 6" waaay different color barrel extension, because here the the People's Socialist Republic of California, we are not allowed a rifle under 30" yes really. Or the anti gun people will get their panties all wound up in a bunch. Anyway this barrel extension makes the MDR legal as far as rifle length goes, but it's ugly. DT doesn't make one. Now I purchased an IWI Tavor SAR a while back also, but it came with a barrel extension / muzzle brake to make it CA compliant, I know they will be coming out with the Tavor 7 in the near future, so I talked with IWI-US and they can't help yet. So I've seen all the usual stuff but I just can't seem to find a decent extension / muzzle brake, does anyone have any ideas??

As cute as that might sound, for a lot of people that just isn't a viable option.  How about something that can actually help the OP?

Same could be said for your post.

As to helping the OP, how about a faux suppressor pinned and welded, it would look cool but add a bunch of weight. It may get you some unwanted attention at the range as well. You can Google "faux suppressor" to see some examples and vendors.

I'm not sure if the internal diameter will accept a .30 caliber bullet, but this and a muzzle device, both permanently attached, might work.  Definitely contact Strike Industries to confirm the internal diameter.  Beyond that, you might want to look at shops that modify for California for a solution.

Rethread the barrel to accommodate it.

It was an option.

Can you rethreaded a 308 barrel to 1/2x28 without compromising the bore?

There are a lot of 5/8x24 options here:

IMHO, that is a suggestion that should be given serious consideration.

The NJ, NY, MD cancers have definitely spread into Philly and Pittsburgh and are threatening the rest of PA. That's prompting me to consider the options, even though stay and fight is currently the best option. There are times when a tactical retreat is the best option.

Sounds like "The Man In High Castle" idea will happen someday...West coast and East coast lost freedom...while the central states still have liberty and freedom.

It is more along the lines of Kurt Schlichter's "People's Republic" where the US splits with the northeast and west coast forming the People's Republic and the rest of the country remaining the United States.  When I read it I wanted to laugh at the absurdity that Schlichter paints, but with each passing day the over the top antics of the Left has made the events in the book look startlingly prophetic.

I enjoyed that book, the second one which is a prequel not as much.

Agreed.  If you're going to do a prequel, do it first, or, if you find you have to add that kind of information into the story, splice it into a narrative that moves the story forward.  Don't pull a Lucas.
