Thanks Pete.  I must have misunderstood what Eric said to me about them when I saw him two weeks ago. My mistake.

I am patiently waiting, hope the election results will allow Steyr to get these done a bit sooner?

Yes.  And also with the election results will probably mean the price of them will not be hiked up real bad or as strong of a demand.   Or will be getting banned down the road, at least for the next four years.

From what I understand, the guns are really close. Just waiting on something from Austria to finish them off.

I'd guess that by February they'll be out.

I am patiently waiting. Waiting patiently has gotten easier with age and Feb is my Bday month. Its all coming together.

Plus the Steyrs are multiplying around here so I have stand-ins.

Any chance the rail-less skinny scope will be available separately? That is all I need to satisfy my "original AUG look" itch.

I asked Pete back when I got on the STG-77 wait list, and he said that he "hoped to have a few of the scopes available for sale"

...not sure how many counts as "a few" but hopefully not too few

It'd be nice if there was a sample ready for SHOT show.

Have the stocks been made yet? I thought that was one of the final hold ups.

They said they will have one at Shot Show for display.

The scope was the hold up.

So why is there a side rail on demo gun at SHOT show? I really hope that's not on the final production version...

I handled the 40th Anniversary version at SHOT today. Very cool piece.

The best thing is the optic, and I really hope we can convince Steyr to offer this optic as an aftermarket item the way they do for the current optics.

It has the same lower profile and backup sights of the original, and it features the same Donut of Death reticle, without the external crosshairs of the current A3 M1 optic.

However, best of all, the donut has tiny dot in the center for precise aiming. The dot is very small, maybe 1-2moa, so it vanishes at speed. But when aiming across the central hall in SHOT (likely 80-100 yards) the dot was very helpful for aiming at a specific, small target on poster (about the size of a coke can.)

Needless to say, I thought this was the best of both worlds in terms of optic setup, and really wish the current factory 1.5x optic featured this Donut-Dot reticle.

That was just a mock up for the show

The STGs will not have the side rails on them, so they say.

Talked to Steyr today about the STG.

STG Receivers in production now, 20" STG barrels ready.

STG stock and part kits due in from Steyr Austria in mid to late April.

So, if it goes as planned we should be seeing the STGs in mid May.

Thank you for your patience!

Is there any possibility of this happening?  I've had an A3 AUG for a while now, but I'd buy an A3M1 with the skinny A1 optic in a heartbeat.
