I have taken my Covert and had a 50 caliber wildcat barrel made 16" long. It uses 50 BMG bullets and I can push them up to about 1500 fps but I primarily did this to shoot as big of a bullet as I could at subsonic velocities. Running a Bowers Vers50 can made to my spec, I can shoot right through a 3/8" AR500 steel target at 1050 fps as you can see in this picture. The stick is in the hole. This thing is beast!

Recoil is mild. Less than a 308, more than a 223. Maybe 243-ish. Depends on the bullet too. There is a lot of weight difference between 750gr and 645gr.

We now have a load that is pleasantly hush with a suppressor too. Accuracy testing is next.

that is a pretty sweet looking setup

I like the concept of the cartridge, I was thinking of something similar myself (as a theoretical exercise, I don't think I have enough need to actually make it)

can you give more info on the wildcat for the curious? What brass did you start with?

It uses WSM brass as a parent. It is a straight wall case when it's done so it headspaces off the case mouth like a pistol round does. The biggest problem is seating depth because of the inside taper of the case so your bullets really need to be a boat tail design.
