      • Standoff Flash Hider (SOFH)

There is only one SOFH model available for all configurations.

  • IWI US Tavor SAR, 9mm Conversion, 1/2 x 36 thread
    • System 16-94: FHMB for BPR1200, BPR1200, SRM4
    • System 16-96: FHMB for BPR1200, BPR1200, SRM6

      • FHMB for BPR1200, Tavor SAR 9mm, 1/2 x 36 thread
      • Standoff Flash Hider (SOFH)

The 9mm suppressor system is currently going through evolutions to properly tune the system to the 9mm Tavor SAR. This should take 45 to 60 days to complete. Manufacturing will commence once the testing is completed. As a result, this product will be delayed relative to the 5.56/7.62 systems.

Expected availability is late Sep 2014 to early Oct 2014.
Prices for the Tavor 9mm Systems have yet to be determined.

All Systems are complete over the barrel (OTB) configurations/systems. A flush mount configuration is not currently available. If you are interested in a flush mount system, please indicate that preference in your post. This preference will be reviewed as the Group Purchase proceeds, but there is no guarantee one will be made available.

All Systems are tuned to the Tavor SAR from IWI US. The availability of a 7.62 system allows flexibility to move the BPR and SRM between 5.56 and 7.62  calibers. Any suppressor system performance degradation will be observed only on the non-Tavor firearm.

If any BPR is purchased separately from the SRM, TWO(2) tax stamps and TWO(2) tax payments will be required. The BPR and SRM are individually categorized as suppressor components and subject to Title II (NFA) each requiring a serial number. If the BPR and SRM are purchased together as a system, only ONE(1) tax stamp, ONE(1) tax payment and ONE(1) serial number is required. If you want to purchase separate BPRs or SRMs, please PM genStrat.

Other Firearms (Long Guns Only)
OSS suppressor systems products for non-Tavor firearms are available to Group Purchase members purchasing a Tavor specific system. The non-Tavor products available include:

  • System 97 thru System 99: FHMB for BPR1, BPR1, SRM (Caliber specified by purchaser)
  • Optional Components (sold only with the purchase of at least one System 99):
    • FHMB for BPR1 (Caliber specified by purchaser)
    • Standoff Flash Hider (SOFH)

System 99 is a complete over the barrel (OTB) configuration/system.The appropriate BPR1 and SRM will be determined by the manufacturer, make, model and barrel length and caliber of the target firearm (no pistols at this time.) If increased sound suppression beyond the default configuration is desired, use SRM+. If you are interested in a flush mount system, please indicate that preference in your post. This preference will be reviewed as the Group Purchase proceeds, but there is no guarantee one will be made available.

-->The availability of FHMBs as an individual or stand-alone item are under review by the ATF. Their initial classification has been as a suppressor or firearm/device under Title II (NFA). Its my understanding this has been the case with other suppressor attachment devices until the classification has been changed. The process is 90+ days old and is expected to be resolved soon. The FHMBs will still be offered with the Group Purchase and Group Purchase pricing. Please specify the number of each desired on the forms. No deposit or payment for the FHMBs will be requested or accepted until the matter is resolved.

Questions & Answers - General
UPDATED: Nov 29, 2014 at 11:40 MT

This post will be updated with the current information as it becomes available. If you don't see answers to your questions, please PM genStrat. A private area will be provided for posting questions as soon as possible.

Do I need to post AND provide a completed form(s)?
  • The post in this topic is no longer required. The forms are used to insure you get the correct product. Priority for delivery of product is based upon receipt of the form(s) and payment of deposit and the total balance.
  • The form(s) provides the necessary clarity when defining the components required. The information on the forms will be double checked through OSS to make sure the correct components are delivered on each order.

What is the current group purchase price(s)?
Prices have been posted for the past 2-3 weeks with the exception of optional FHMBs.
Prices will only be posted in the private area for those with the clear intent to purchase.
Prices will not be the current street or advertised price.

What is the current general price?
The current street price for a complete system appears to be in the $1500-$1600 range.

What colors will be available?
At this time, BLACK is the only option.

What constitutes a "complete" suppressor system?
  • Flash Hider Muzzle Break (FHMB)
  • Back Pressure Regulator (BPR)
  • Signature Reduction Module (SRM)

What are the available options?
  • Additional Flash Hider Muzzle Break (FHMB.) Prices and ordering will be available as soon as the BATFE resolves classification.
  • Standoff Flash Hider (SOFH.) The SOFH attaches only to the BPR.

What is the status of the purchase of extra stand-alone FHMBs?
  • The reclassification request is still in process with no resolution.
  • FHMBs sold separately, not included with a complete suppressor system, are not being sold until resolution of the reclassification request.
  • FHMBs will remain an integral part of the Group Buy. Assuming a favorable decision, Group Buy pricing will be provided and honored when the reclassification is resolved.

Will components be sold separately?
Currently, only complete systems and the listed options will be available as part of the Group Purchase. As always in life, anything is possible. Ask and its always possible you might be rewarded.

Is there a deadline for sign-up?
A signup deadline will be determined. This date will be be clearly marked in the original post. Quantities and manufacturing schedules will impact the selected date. Once the deadline date has passed, no further orders will be accepted under this group purchase. It is expected that the deadline will be in approximately 30-60 days.

Is there a deadline for payments?
A payment deadline will be determined. This date will be be clearly marked in the original post. Payment information and methods will be provided in a private area of the forum. Once the deadline date has passed, no further payments will be accepted and any unpaid order(s) will be cancelled. The payment deadline will include receipt of all paperwork required for the purchase. If there are special circumstances/delays, please PM genStrat. The payment deadline is expected to be as quickly following the order deadline as possible allowing for return of all forms and documentation.

Is there a deadline for paperwork?
All required, accurately completed paperwork must be returned to genStrat by the payment deadline. The payment deadline, when determined, will be clearly posted in the original post. If there are special circumstances/delays, please PM genStrat.

-->What payment methods will be available?
At the current time, payment methods are Cashiers Check, Money Order, Check, Debit Card, Credit Card and PayPal Invoice. Debit/credit cards and PayPal Invoice are subject to processing fees defined in the private board.

What is the general process?
The group purchase and associated price will be a one time opportunity with purchases restricted to "not for resale." Orders will be accepted up to the end of the day on the sign-up date (midnight.) After the deadline date, the group purchase products and pricing will no longer be available except to those already on the sign-up list.

Immediately following the deadline date, emails will be sent requesting payment and the legal address where the suppressor system is to be located. Payment includes:

  • Price of the purchased products.
  • Cost of the tax stamp(s) at $200 per tax stamp.
  • Cost of ATF Filings - not known at this time. Every effort will be made to minimize this cost as much as possible.

This "legal address" is the same address that will be used on ATF Form 4 (5320.4.) The emails will include the necessary forms except the fingerprint forms. The fingerprint forms will be mailed as soon as I receive the legal address. General check information and amounts will be provided in the private area and directly to you prior to the order deadline.

Individual orders will be held until payment has been received and cleared. Further, orders will be held until correctly completeld ATF Form 4(s) are received. Only with payment and paperwork in hand will the order be processed through the ATF. Once the paperwork is submitted, it could take up to a year to get approval. The shortest expected waiting time is 6-9 months.

Once the paperwork is returned approved, the transfer process will be started either directly (in Utah only) or through a local FFL dealer with the correct SOT (all U.S. non-Utah destinations an FFL allowed to receive NFA firearms/devices.) SOT is the "Special Occupation Tax" associated with the NFA firearms/devices. The FFL must be a current dealer (Type 01) or manufacturer (Type 07) with a current SOT Class 2 or Class 3. If you need help locating a FFL, please contact me. Do not select an FFL without the proper license or in a state/local jurisdiction outside the legal address of the firearm/device.

Will deposits be required?
Deposits will be required during the purchase process. The amount and deadline have not been determined. Full payment at this time will also be accepted.

When will the suppressor systems be available?
The release date for the Tavor 5.56/7.62 models is expect to be in November 2014. The expected release date for the Tavor 9mm models is late November 2014. Upon release, approximately 30-45 days are required to process the ATF Form 3 and transfer the product to your local FFL/SOT. From here, its a matter of submitting and waiting for ATF approval of ATF Form 4.

Will any other Tavor SAR calibers be supported by the OSS suppressor system?
The 5.56 and 9mm calibers are supported or are in development. A 300BLK Tavor suppressor system will become a product when/if IWI US (or a third party) releases a 300BLK model or conversion kit. Other calibers will be reviewed as they become available.

Can the flash hider muzzle break (FHMB) be permanently mounted?
Yes. There are a number of methods including pinning available. OSS will not perform this service, nor will OSS provide any method or vendor. It has been reported that a number of dealers in the Las Vegas, Nevada area have successfully pinned the OSS suppressor system to short barreled rifles.

Which components of the suppressor system are unique to a firearm?
In the OSS suppressor system there is at least one(1) internal portion of each of the three major components that has been "tuned" for a specific platform (manufacturer, model, caliber and barrel length.) Further, each component in the area of the bore is caliber specific. In the case of the Tavor 5.56 and 7.62 suppressor system configurations, the system is tuned to the Tavor SAR regardless of caliber or barrel length (16.5 or 18 inch.) Performance of the 5.56 and 7.62 configurations on the 5.56 Tavor SAR will be indistinguishable.

Where do I get parts and maintenance of the suppressor components?
The only user repairable part is the birdcage found on the flash hider muzzle break(FHMB.) This part is not subject to Title II regulations or taxes. The remainder of the suppressor system can be serviced as needed through OSS or PM genStrat.

How can I (the Customer) help the process?
  • Don't sign-up if you can not receive NFA firearms/devices.
  • Don't sign-up if your state or locality does not allow NFA firearms/devices.
  • Sign-up as soon as possible and provide the correct purchase information and quantities.
  • Be responsive.
  • Provide prompt payment when requested.
  • Provide truthful complete information on all required forms.
  • Recognize that the process is complicated, takes significant time and there will be others going through the same process. Everything will be done to make sure the process moves forward smoothly and with minimal delay. You will be informed of the latest information, changes and status as quickly as possible. Be patient unless you feel there is something incorrect or missing.

Aftermarket Product Compatibility & Useability
  • ShootingSight TAV-D, 2 Stage Tavor Trigger
Limited testing with the aluminum model of the TAV-D and OSS suppressor system has shown no indication of incompatibility, no firing or reset problems even under "rapid" fire. Further testing will be done to include time at the 2014 Bullpup Convention
  • Gear Head Works TMF
Initial review in progress. The primary concern is for lights and other devices housed internally and extending forward beyond the front edge. The 18" Tavor will have more clearance due to the bayonet lug. The 16.5" and 9mm Tavor both have less clearance between the suppressor and the shell/forearm.

Products will be included as they are made available for review and testing. If you have products that should be included, please PM genStrat.

Questions & Answers - ATF Related
UPDATED: Oct 4, 2014 at 10:10 MT

What are the ATF issues with the OSS suppressor system?
  • A complete suppressor system will have and require a single serial number, a single set of paperwork and a single tax stamp (one check for $200.)
  • If the BPR and SRM are purchased separately, each item will require its own serial number, its own set of paperwork and its own tax stamp (two checks for $200 or a total of $400.)
  • -->The SOFH is not considered a Title II (NFA) firearm or component and is not subject to the NFA or a tax stamp.
  • -->Purchase of flash hider muzzle breaks (FHMB) as a separate component from the suppressor system is under review by the BATFE. This is expected to be resovled before the end of the Group Purchase. genStrat will provide up to date information on status of this component as it is available.

What paperwork is required and what is the process?
A detailed answer is provided in Reply #68 of Re: Tavor Suppressor System. In short, most who purchase the complete suppressor system will need to correctly file (and await approval for) ATF Form 4 (5320.4) prior to delivery and then complete ATF Form 4473 at the time of delivery.

A change in the procedure will reduce the number of transfers for those outside Utah. This should reduce the overall transfer time by approximately 30 days.

Can I use a trust to purchase the suppressor system?
Yes. However, if you don't already have one, GET AN ATTORNEY! The trust must be legal or the paperwork could be rejected. In addition, the ATF could invalidate the trust at a time following the purchase putting you in a difficult position. SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP if you plan to use a trust.

How long will it take to process the necessary ATF paperwork?
From the date the funds clear and the paperwork is complete, it will take approximately 8-11 months based upon current statistics and required use of the paper forms filing system (no electronic filing at this time.) The current transit times are:

  • Forms sent to Stamp received - Individual: 285 days
  • Forms sent to Stamp received - Trust: 282 days

States where individual, corporate and trust ownership of suppressors IS ILLEGAL:
  • California
  • Delaware
  • Hawaii
  • Illinois
  • Iowa
  • Massachusetts
  • Minnesota
  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont

Of these States, California and Iowa allow valid FFL holders to possess suppressors.

In order to legally purchase or possess a suppressor, you must:
  • BE a resident/citizen of the United States.
  • NOT have a felony record.
  • BE at least 21 years of age to purchase from a dealer.
  • BE at least 18 years of age to purchase from an individual using a ATF Form 4 (5320.4) transfer. See your individual states for any additional restrictions.
  • Be at least 18 years of age to possess a suppressor as a beneficiary of a trust or as a member of a corporation. See your individual states for any additional restrictions.

What is required to transfer suppressors to an individual?

What is required to transfer suppressors to a Trust? (Seek advice from an attorney in the Trust's State.)
  • 2 Completed copies of ATF Form 4 (3520.4) with the Trust name as the buyer
  • 1 copy ATF Form 5330.20
  • Notarized copy of the Declaration of Trust or Certification of Trust
  • The check for the tax stamp must be from the Trust
  • Completed ATF Form 4473 (5300.9) Part I at an FFL/SOT in your Trust's State of record.
  • No fingerprint cards, no passport photos and no local Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) signature are required.

Who qualifies as a local (has jurisdiction where the item will be located) Chief Law Enforcement Officer(CLEO)?
  • Sheriff
  • Chief of Police in your town or city
  • Head of your State Police Agency
  • District Attorney
  • Judge(s) with the Power of Arrest
  • Any Law Enforcement Officer Approved by the NFA Branch of the BATF

Who can receive Title II (NFA) firearms?
Generally and for the purpose of this Group Purchase, the suppressor systems and components will only be sent to a valid/current FFL Type 01 (manufacturer) or 07 (dealer) holder who also has a current SOT of Class 2 (manufacturer) or Class 3 (dealer.) If you don't know who in your area has the correct credentials, then help will be provided. Another source is the ATF as well as Internet based sites. Examples are:

Know who you are dealing with before purchasing. You are entrusting the security and condition of an expensive firearm (in this case suppressor) for a significant number of months.

In.

What will the difference between a TAVOR only suppressor and a regular one that is mountable on any 5.56 platform?

To be honest, I'd prefer to have the suppressor that is mountable to more than one gun but I understand that's now what this group buy is about.

I'm interested.  Still trying to understand the best option for my 16.5 Tavor in 5.56.  Leaning towards System 2 SRM6.  Quantity one.

I want to be "IN" , but how long do we have to save up $1600? I have my trust done, but $1600 + $200 tax stamp is a tough pill right now. Gonna need a minute..

I believe the idea is that the price will be lower due to this being a group purchase.  That's the way this usually works.

I'm real interested for use on our 16.5  T-Pup  and AR15 if it can be used for both, of course the bottom line will make final decision even if it is tuned for the T-Pup

I'm possibly in for a System 16-56 or 76 depending on the price and timeline for getting the money in.

I am definitely interested. Pending the final cost will be the largest factor for me.

16.5" Tavor
5.56
One System 16-54 with SOFH

However, I may go with the 16-76 depending on the estimated cost.

son-of-a... "In" (pending final cost confirmation)

Tavor model - 18in (SAR Flattop B18)

Caliber - 5.56

Products - 1 complete system. (But I think I want it in the 7.62 version, just in case a 300BLK barrel is avail someday. My dummy head couldn't quite figure that part out in the instructions though; I"ll re-read and edit when I have time!)

Product Quantity(s) = 1

Regards,
