Red Jacket has taken off the $229 preorder price. It looks like it's $299. now!

Well I finally got a hold of someone on the phone and they said my order just hadn't been entered in the system yet and to "give them a couple more weeks and check again". I asked why it wouldn't show up on the online account info and was given the same response. I'm not feeling very confident in their response.

I think I'd follow that up with an email restating the points:

"Thanks for taking my call today.  Just to recap the discussion..."

That way you have something to refer back to in writing...

Just my  2 cents

Red Jacket site now states that they'll extend the $229 rate and add another production run.

Well I gave them a few more weeks and I called them back, but couldn't get through, I also emailed them again and waited. Still nothing. I can't believe they care this little for their customers.

Has anyone had success reaching out to them?

Yeah RJF definately does not have the best customer service. You'd think with all the Discover Channel money they can afford to hire a few more competant & knowledgeable people to handle customer support.

It took them a week to respond to my last email and their response was a sentice that didn't consist of more than 5 words.

Wow, just got an e-mail to a question I'd asked them on May 22.  It was one line, and did not answer the question I asked.  I understand growing pains, but wow...

I cant imagine why anybody would do business with Red Jacket when the competition HTA is so willing to provide good customer service.
I took a hit canceling my order from Red Jacket so that I can give my business to a company that respects their customers.

I saw on Facebook last week that their "late summer/early fall" shipping will now be November. Maybe I'll have mine by Christmas.  fainting

Okay let me start by saying I work at Red Jacket as a Design/Engineer and am the lead designer on this project with Joe. I'd like to address the email issue, since I get to see both sides of that issue. Being in the part of the office and watching them deal with the emails that come in. It is overwhelming. There are 4 people just dedicated to emails alone. On an adverage day we receive around 2000 emails. I have sat and watched them answer them. In the time it takes to send a one sentance answer, 130+ more come in. That is a never ending battle. So after answering 20, your several hundred behind. I couldn't do it myself.

Now about the ZK-22. Since the episode aired there have been over 30 revisions to refine the design. At this moment in time the molds for the body are being worked. There should be a few thousand available by the end of November in Academy Sport stores. There were orders from distributors that proceeded online sales. But both will be fulfilled simultaneously. Since there is minor assembly that needs to be done "in-house" before you get yours, it may seem slow going. But just be patient, you don't want the stock you buy to be rushed through assembly and put together "half-ass". Neither does the guy before or after you.

The gun itself was originally conceived of by Joe. While I was there shooting episode 8 of season 2 (the Gatling 12ga episode) I spotted a airsoft P-90 that Joe had cut-up for a 10-22 seven years ago. I told him we could easily take that design and refine it, into a real product. Having the oppurtunitiy to design at Magpul,  I  know how to create a great product (by the way to those of you that think it looks like the PDR... Well I worked on that also). I am also a left handed shooter so that takes priority in my designs. After Joe and I talked about it, he decided to let me pursue the design of it. We both love the P-90 but didn't like and other things we were not fond of. The gun that was on TV, wasn't ever supposed to be used in the show. We had just gotten a "rough draft" prototype made, to see if we liked it. A few days later it was being filmed for TV. We hadn't even had a solid idea of everything it needed designed into it. Currently from the outside there are a few changes from what you have seen. There is now a drop safety in the trigger, QD sling attachment points on both sides, a rear bottom sling slot, a wider charging handel, a removable ejection shield (for left handed shooters), Magpul 7 slot side rails, and serial number window. Internally you can now fine tune your trigger pull. Although it is a drop in stock, it feels so solid you might think it's one piece. The trigger pull feels solid and is as short as the regular 10-22. The ergonomics are greatly improved over the P-90. You don't have to smash your face into the stock to see through the sights, the front hand hold better fits your hand, and the ejection port cover doesn't allow the gun to "spit" in the face of left handed shooters. It also accepts most magazines. I say "most" because there was one very old Butler Creek "rip off" magazine that would get stuck every once in a while. In the end, I know it looks like everything on the show is glued and duck taped together, but we actually have legitimate people with real skill working there, so don't believe everything you see on TV.

Thanks, Brian

So if you have any questions, I will answer what I can about the gun (let's try to keep this a ZK-22 thread  Smiley)
