Best flash suppressor on the market (product names are links to vendor page):

These are a starting point. Each is viewed as a flash suppressor and not as a break/compensator. If you have other recommendations and links, please add it to the thread along with your experiences.

Others not on the list but mentioned in the thread:

BE Meyers hands down.

We turned the lights out and tested the BE Meyers at our indoor range on Little Creek and from a 10.5" barrel (MK18) it produced less flash than the KAC QDSS NT4 suppressor mounted to the gun.

I had buddies that would rather just mount the BE Meyers to their MK18's and forego the option to use a suppressor. All they cared about was suppressing the flash, and still having the maneuverability of the 10.5" indoors and deploying out of vehicles.

I have fired the first four listed in twilight, darkness, and in full darkness with night vision.  The Vortex and AAC are equal in performance.

That being said, even an A2 flash hider is quite effective (especially compared to a bare muzzle) and is difficult to see at more than 50-100 yards for just an instant, and only if it is more or less facing you at that range.

Very nice article!  Many thanks for posting.

I'd love to see the results of the poll, but I am very new to shooting and would not like to pollute your results with a random entry so I can see what others think.

great article would be interested in the BCM compensator which is said to be around the A2  interms of flash  surpression and as good a comp as the battle comp so best of both worlds for under a 100

When I get a chance, I'll do another one for combo flash suppression and break. The A2 has been both for a long time, but from what I have read its not much of a compensator. Anyways, I included it because its a well known, widely distributed flash suppressor. The rest of the list should be strictly flash suppression.

Smith Enterprise Vortex.

A tad longer than the M16A2 compensator.

but still shorter than a 10" M4,
