I just purchased a new X95 and was taking it apart to examine it before my trip to the range.  Mine is the 5.56 and the manual says you should be able to pull up on the bolt rotation control bar only about .31 inch.  However, in the photos I've attached, I can pull it up over an inch.  Also, I can't seem to push out the bolt guiding pin to remove the bolt assembly.  I've attached a few pics to show you all what I'm seeing.  Any help is appreciated!!

Update:  Hey everyone, the manual that came with the rifle is out of date.  Apparently, in Spring 2020, the X95 was changed to use the 300 blackout recoil assembly.  Unfortunately, this was documented nowhere in the paperwork that came with the rifle.  I hope this helps someone else.

Rainman,

Yep, it seems that their manual writers are kept out of the loop on documentation and printing changes in the weapons Operators Manual.

You didn't show the tip on the front of you bolt carrier.  Does you measure about .9 inch from where it attaches to the bolt carrier? (early x-95 stye) or is it shorter (as in the .300 BO recoil unit)?

It seems that they have gone to the .300 BO bolt carrier and recoil mechanism in the 5.56 as well as in .300 BO rifles.

So, the 300BLK is now standard?

Yes .300 B/O, the top rail is also different, it has the gas setting adjustment hole on top. I think there was an “addendum” sheet printed on a copy machine and put in with the manual. My x95 was in the first batch and also had the single pin ejector.  I also changed over to the newer, “original” IDF charging handle.

Just some more thoughts.

Looking at the manual, (Section 14.1.2, Pg.58) it seems that you do not have to remove the .300 BO top rail when you change back to 5.56, as it indicates that the gas regulator body is attached to the .300 BO barrel unit and you only use the hole in the top rail to adjust for sonic or subsonic velocities.  Can anyone confirm this?

If this is the case, sometime in the future I would look forward to the .300 OB top rail becoming the standard issue for US X-95s (reduces replacement parts and costs of manufacturing two separate top tails). Just my humble opinion.
