After 4 yrs of waiting, I have received my MDR from EuroOptic on yesterday. It arrived in a plain brown box instead of the factory new white DT box they usually ship in. Upon unboxing I found several problems.

1). The port cover on this MDR has a defect in the metal. Pictured below:

2). The hand guard has several blemishes in the plastic on the bottom.(as I have seen another complaint previously)

3). I received one of those damn incomplete barrels missing an “overpressure redirect part”.  These barrels were shipped in june. No idea why this was not sent in by FFL to be remedied.

4). The pic rail on the gas block is higher than the receiver rail AND slightly at an angle.

5). The barrel lock detent is non-existent.

I have to check for other common problems such as cracks inside the reciever etc. I put it back in the box in extreme frustration.

Edit:
6). The scissor panel has what looks like a manufacturing defect as well. Pic added.

7). The prongs on the flash hider are different lengths. One is about 3/16 longer. I happen to have another hider that was given to me by another MDR owner. It is completely different lengths from the one shipped to me.

Yeah.  It’s pretty sad that the MDR is still having issues right at shipment. I would go over it with a fine tooth comb  before sending it back to DT to figure out all that needs fixed.   Also contact Megan from DT to see about a paid shipping label. Personally my MDR had three issues with the rifle before I even took it to the range.

If I can I will be happy to help identify any issues if I can

I thought all this was fixed...maybe only on press guns...QC appears to still plague DT.

DT needs to just omit that crapola pic rail. Serves 0 purpose.

Anyone have familiarity with the situation where a transfer is reversed? I have it from Megan that this barrel will have to be machine disassembled and re timed. I have no interest in a barrel coming back to me that has been through that. I want a brand new, once assembled barrel assembly or nothing. I have had enough of this bulls*** company and this low quality product.

Mine is also higher than the rail but not crocked. It's higher enough that I can't put a scope mount too far forward or it hits the barrel block and doesn't mount properly. I have one of the very early guns and when I complained about it on this forum when Nick Young was active he said it was made higher on purpose. So it a "feature" not a flaw. LOL.

I found it.

Why is the height of the rail attached to the barrel higher than upper receiver rail? There is enough of a height difference that a scope mount can not cover the barrel rail in any way. I was trying to push my scope mount as far forward as I could because I didn't buy a cantilever mount, I should have!, But I could not have even a small portion of the mount cover the barrel section because of the height differences.

The length of the MDR's upper receiver from its buttpad should be the same length (or slightly longer) as an AR10 or SR25 rifle receiver with its buttstock fully extended.  The MDR like the AR15/SR25 rifle series will require a cantilevered mount to comfortably mount the scope.

Your question about a slight misalignment between he gas-block rail vs the receiver rail.  This is due to tolerance stack between the receiver, barrel block, barrel, and gas block.  This same tolerance stack issue exists on other rifle but the rail alignment highlights it.

Just wanted to revisit this thread to say, with the release of the MDRX and SE, I know now that I should have followed my gut and cancelled my preorder. After all the failed promises I should have known that DT could not be relied on to not use the preorder customers as guinea pigs.

The only thing that would assuage this frustration for me is some kind of exchange or discount for the preorderers.

Honestly at this point I would be happy simply to be offered the new polymer and maybe am some of their more important design improvements at the Warrenty dept.

The polymer has always been my biggest concern. I would spend money on the side eject for this one if the polymer wasn't crap.
