I'm getting ready to fill out a Form 1 for my 5.56 X95, but mostly want to SBR it in order to be able to train with a 5.56 SBR (cheaper ammo) and swap in a 13" 300 blackout barrel. I've heard that there are/were issues with simply cutting down the barrel, cutting out the rail for the gas adjustment and using the shorter forend. Does anyone have any real information on this? IWI does not seem like they will be releasing a .300 blackout SBR anytime soon (or ever) for the X95.

Also, I have a hypothesis I was hoping someone could either confirm or refute: Since the X95 is a bit overgassed as it is in .300 blackout, would cutting down the barrel to 13" actually cause any issues? Or did IWI take a 13" gas system and stick a 16.5" barrel on it for their 300 blackout model sold in the US?

Info/feedback appreciated!

Try some of the x95 groups on Facebook. Jeremy Gresham or Tom Alibrando would probably be the best ones to ask as the both work for IWI.
