So here is the new six position gas valve hole diameters as stated on their new YouTube Video.

6 Position (2019)
1. - 0.018"
2. - 0.029" - Suppressed Setting
3. - 0.042"
4. - 0.049" - Normal Setting
5. - 0.052"
6. - 0.055" - Adverse Setting

Here are the setting for the now older valves.

Old 3 Position "As Pinned by Me"
S - 0.030"
N - 0.041"
A - 0.049"

New 6 position (2018) "As Pinned by Me"
1 - 0.015"
2 - 0.026"
3 - 0.037"
4 - 0.041"
5 - 0.044"
6 - 0.049"

Now let make it super confusing by mixing them all together.

1. - 0.015"                                      6 Position (2018)
1. - 0.018"                                      6 Position (2019)
2. - 0.026"                                      6 Position (2018)
2. - 0.029" - Suppressed Setting       6 Position (2019)
S. - 0.030"                                         3 Position
3. - 0.037"                                      6 Position (2018)
N. - 0.040"                                         3 Position
4. - 0.041"                                      6 Position (2018)
3. - 0.042"                                      6 Position (2019)
A. - 0.049"                                         3 Position
4. - 0.049" - Normal Setting             6 Position (2019)
5. - 0.044"                                      6 Position (2018)
6. - 0.049"                                      6 Position (2018)
5. - 0.052"                                      6 Position (2019)
6. - 0.055" - Adverse Setting            6 Position (2019)

At work so can't watch the vid, but do current owners get the new and improved 6 position gas valve?

I want to add a few things to my above post.

Nick states that they added the 6 positions because we requested to fine tune the MDR for suppressors and fine tune recoil. This may be true but it was not my understanding. It was requested mainly because of torn rims, whether running suppressed or not. At least I think that why they did it.

The next one is Nick said that because of the customer lack of understanding of the six position and that it was meant only for fine tuning and didn't offer a adverse seating like the original 3 position. This is not true, at least not in the one that I received. My 2018 Position 6 is the exact same diameter as adverse was on my 3 position, 0.049". In fact Normal on my 3 position, 0.041, was position 4. If In-range would have had the 3 position on adverse then they would have had the same issue as the 2018 6 position. Now on the new 2019 Valve, adverse is considered the new normal setting.

Well I just called and the call team was watching the video and had no idea what I was talking about. They told me to give it a few days or maybe even after shot show to call back to get on the list for the 2019 video.

Does the new setting mean the adverse setting is even more abusive to ones shoulder?

Yes.

So the old Adverse setting is now the new normal setting...bye bye MDR components...it will eat optics faster than a SCAR17 at this point...running the gun on adverse with the 2018 plug was brutal enough...now its the new normal setting... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

From the ones I have. It looks like the new normal setting, position 4 (2019) is the same as position as 6 on the 2018 version and adverse on the 3 position. We would need to have some other guys pin their valves to see how correct my numbers are.

I've been running my 2018 6 position on position 2, 0.026", not suppressed. That smaller than the new suppressed setting.

So Nick lied...again...more...still.

And still didn't fix the issues.  Hilarious that Adverse is now basically normal though.  What a f***ing train-wreck.

not surprised at the augmented gas solution; the obvious fix, maybe.  he mentions sending back out to InRange for further evaluation so we'll see how round 2 goes for them.  oddly, he makes no mention of garand thumb and i guess it would be pointless since the MDR tripped badly in both.  if i'm not mistaken though, GT was already complaining about the recoil impulse on the MDR.   i'd have to rewatch to catch if he mentioned being on adverse the entire time.

I'd definitely be interested in a round 2 from both InRange and GT, just to see if any of the changes make any serious headway in how the guns operate for them. If DT could get their blessings, DT would definitely win some people back and maybe some faith from the community would be restored.

That just rests on DT nailing down what the exact issues are, rather than offering bandaids that don't seem to be solving the core issues with the rifle.

Wow. With the 6pos I'm having to run on setting 2 suppressed because 1 short strokes. But eventually it starts sticking cases on 2.

Just goes to show how inconsistent they are from one to the next.

I guess itís time to find the best way to dump my MDR.  I started off by running at 5 on the 2018 6 position gas valve, and the recoil was definitely harsh, plus a number of cases showed badly deformed rims that appeared just short of being ripped off.  Dropped back down to position 4 for another mag or two.  If I have to run it at 5 or 6 all of the time for reliability, Iím definitely out.

Contact DT for the 2019 valve.

While the new 2019 plug could and probably will enhanced reliability...it will be offset by one harshly firing firearm to shoot with increased wear...all settings have moved up in size...the new normal setting is now the old adverse...shooting the MDR on Setting 6 (old plug)...was painful...and now that setting is the new normal setting on the 2019...yikes.

Maybe they've started hogging out the chambers to reduce stuck cases with these larger port sizes.

The original 3 position plug was horribly overgassed in the suppressed setting, then there was the updated 3pos, then the 6 position and now the updated 6 position.

I think it would behove DT to hone the chambers or have FAXON do it for them...the pics I've seen on here and in person of MDR's chamber leaves a lot to be desired...
