Hi. New to Bullpups and to this forum. I just purchased a Steyr Aug A3 M1 with 3x scope and has the 20" barrel with bipod. The box endcap says muzzle brake bipod combo, green stock, 3x optic, 20" barrel. I am curious as to why the barrel is threaded for about 10, and why I can't seem to find this model anywhere online? The guys at Cabelas were no help at all, and I just want to know exactly what I have, so I can answer questions when I take it out. The first question I was asked was why barrel was threaded for most of barrel. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

I think Steyr has been mixing up their AUG options lately. I've even seen A3 M1's with the STG77 skinny 1.5x scope too. In the past Steyr has only sold that bipod as an accessory. You also have the LMG muzzle brake too. What was the price you paid out of curiosity? The bipod kit includes the LMG muzzle brake and runs $925 on their website.

To answer your question, that threading on the barrel is used for either a bayonet lug, or a grenade launcher mount. Its on all 20" AUG barrels.

I've seen that exact model for sale at Cabela's. They kept it in the gun library. Price was 3k something.

Cool gun.

Thank you for the answer. I paid just over $3000 for it. I know it was probably too much, but I bought a boatload of $100 gift cards on eBay for $80 each, so I really paid about $2400 for it. I love this thong. I've been into firearms for years, and had never seen one, and I just had to have it. I like it much better than my Nemo Omen and LWRC Repr. I was told this had most of the options from Steyr. I hope it was a good deal, but don't really care too much, because I love it.

You paid about what I assumed. A standard M1 with 3x scope and 16" or 20" barrel retails about $2300 on average, and the bipod kit is over $900 alone as a separate accessory. You didn't get ripped off, you just paid full price.

Thank you. I kinda figured that. I really love this thing. Best firearm I've ever owned. Fits me like a glove. Only thing I'd like to change is the trigger. It's just a little too heavy, imo. I'm hoping Circus comes out with their trigger soon. Anybody have any knowledge of a release date for it? Thanks again.
