Just because itís proposed doesnít mean it will become law or pass. Just saying and yes Iím a nra member at least for the moment. But that could change.

Which the NRA has now gone on record as opposing.

That's good news. I'm very glad to see it.

But still, have they walked back LaPierre's statement that it's okay to infringe by banning or restricting based on rate of fire? Has the board done anything about LaPierre and Cox?

Probably not and they probably won't do anything about LaPierre and Cox.

I think part of the issue, at least as I've seen it, is that all we really see are the large blunders and pissing matches that they get into, and not the small victories and other positive things that they've done.  Maybe it is time for new blood, but if we get new blood, it better be effective and not simply because "we hate them!"

One person over in the dog pound commented that it was likely that NRA's publicity firm was behind the statement, and I'm willing to believe that given how fast things were moving last week.  While holding the NRA's toes to the fire is important, I think we're spending way too much energy on it and not enough demanding answers to what happened, when, how, and who was involved in the Vegas shooting.  The police seem to be giving a different story every news cycle and right now the rumor that Paddock was involved in a "Fast and Furious" style gunwalking operation that operated by shipping guns to ISIS and they found out, whacked him, then started shooting to make it look like he snapped, that is making more sense than Mandalay Bay getting a frantic call from a guard that had been shot and sitting on it for ten minutes.

Answers...they aren't just for tests anymore.

"House Democrats have introduced a number of new gun control measures in the wake of a deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Among the proposals are HR.3962 to ban online ammunition sales, H.R. 4025 requiring gun dealers to report the sale of two or more rifles to the same person in a five-day period, and HR. 4052, which would ban magazines able to hold greater than 10 rounds."

Anyway, as you can see- this isn't about banning bumpfire stocks, they are going after everything.
