Well, back to the topic at hand.

I’ve ordered an 18” barrel/bolt kit for my x95.
Great feedback form evryone, pros and cons and well as essential esthetics.

I thought you had a 16" X95? Did you order something different? The listing on the IWI site says that the 18.5" barrel/bolt kit is only for those guns that already have an 18.5" barrel.

I do have a x95 with a 16.5”

I was told a 18.5” barrel is a drop in. Did I get bad info?

If it’s not compatable, what are the differences in the barrels?

I don't know all the differences. It could just be the bayonet lug. All I can tell you is what the site says.

Since you've already ordered it, see if it fits. Then let us know how it went.

That seems to be my MO.

Jump in with both feet, then see if it will work.

In short,  a slight modification to the handguard is all that’s needed to install a 18.5” barrel in place of the 16.5”

Could you go into detail about what you would have to do to the handguard? I'm looking to go down the same route from a 16.5" --> 18.5".

You cut a slot in the handguard to allow the bayonet lug to pass through.

Sort of.  See this thread in the link below.
