You can't buy a shack for under $250,000 where I live. The average 3 bedroom home is $400,000 and that's with a tiny yard and no garage. I wish there were properties for $85,000 around my area.

Holy hell, man....

Wait.....

Who in hades is paying $250,000 for a house???

I have a 4 bedroom, 2000ft/sq home and 2.5 acres....and I only paid $85,000.

You people need to move to the styx...

Land/Houses in the DFW area are skyrocketing in price.  In the Dallas area they say it has a lot to do with Toyota moving their US Headquarters here.  We were looking at a place that would have been an hour and a half drive each way for both the wife and myself.  30 acres and a barndominum (very small one) for 209,000.  I was pretty excited for that just based on the plot of land.  Could have built quite a nice range there.  But oh well.

I remember when I was in Jr High and we moved to Palo Pinto (population 400ish) and picked up a frame home 3 bed 2 bath on 10 acres of land for 33 grand.  That was mid/late90s IIRC.

I, like most people, just see the bathroom not the individual components.  When you break it down to each item it adds up quickly.  Not to mention, I should have been a plumber.  The plumber, accounts for 1/10th of the work and almost half of the labor budget.

Rather ironic that Illegal Immigrant areas have Sky Rocketing Prices . I have a 5,000 Square foot all finish in Oak with Oak floors 3 Garages 28x32 24x24 and 20x20 360 Ft Concrete Drive way : Brick Front 30 Acres of Land. Built in 2001 for $200,000. Which included land. I just had it appraised at $450,000.00 . But I live in Michigan  in the country 2 miles from the Big Lake on the West Side . Over on the east by Detroit My House would be twice the Price.

You guys have some serious **** government over there.
I would never live somewhere that would give me a felony for having a standard capacity ar15 magazine.

While I totally agree with you on how stupid CA's gun laws are, possessing a standard capacity AR15 magazine is not a felony, in fact it's not even a misdemeanor, it's an infraction.  It's a law for the sake of making voters happy, with almost no teeth.  As an infraction, it has to be committed in the presence of a peace officer to be enforceable.  So out in public, you could get a ticket for it at most (like speeding).  At home, unless your house is being searched for some other reason, it can't be enforced.  And as I understand it, the law is being appealed as we speak.
