If it were my perfect world I would love to see a bolt release aftermarket. The existing one is so small and stuff that the charging handle is the fallback bolt release. Either some sort of extension or a full replacement that works would be amazing

Agree 100% I have been harping about this for a while. It's my number one priority for a modification to
the RDB. If you don't understand the need, try doing a speed reload using only the bolt release with a Tavor, AR, then try to do one with an RDB. Using the charging handle is not as swift as a bolt release so don't use that, and it is even taught as being incorrect technique in military units.

Hopefully we'll get something moving on the bolt release in October.

For now, please enjoy this:

Just a quick glimpse of machining in action on the rear stays from last night.   Front mount/stay gets run tonight, anodizing on Friday.

Thanks, glad you guys like the progress!

Front and rear stays are done and heading to anodizing tomorrow.  I'll get an update on the rails as well, but estimating everything will be here next weekend or Mon/Tues after, best guess on shipping timeline.

Enjoy!

How warm will the handguard get? What is the weight compared to the polymer?

No hotter than the aluminum handguard on any other rifle, similar to AR's in all likelihood.

As mentioned previously, it's about 3 oz lighter.  The polymer is REALLY thick and heavily ribbed (reinforced) for strength.

They're done and headed to powder coat!  We reserved 5 to cerakote in FDE.  M-lok rail attachment checks out 100%.  Should have these by Monday for shipping next week!

Forgot to ask, do these come with any rail sections?

No sir, they do not.  Not at pre-order prices for certain!  The pre-order prices are close to cost and basically help us offset purchasing them a discount by ordering 50 at a time instead of just 25, plus covering the CAD programming charges from our CAD genius and the prototyping.

Still a great deal for a custom handguard. Manufacturing these things can be fairly inexpensive, expertise in operating machines and creating designs, very expensive!

I'm not mad at all. Happy as can be about the price I paid on one. Just needed to know if I have to source some rails.

Twenty of us are going to have the coolest looking RDBs in existence, for a while at least.

I dare somebody to send their RDB rifle in to Keltec for service with the Raptor rail attached just to get a rise out of the Keltec workers there lol. I want to know how they might react to seeing it.
