Title: Optics/Sights
Post by: gunn on July 07, 2017, 08:22:03 PM
My RDB is supposed to arrive Tuesday.  What sights or optics are the most commonly used on these weapons.  I have scopes and sights on my AR's, but this is my first bullpup. All information is greatly appreciated.  And if this horse has been beaten to death I am sorry.

the vortex razer 1-6x is commonly seen on the gun out of kel-tec's camp; what chad enos runs on it.  it seems marketing favored vortex optics in the 1-4x to 1-6x varieties...razer, strike eagle & pst.  for home defense, which may get laughs here, i'd likely go red dot...aimpoint, trij mro or cheaper alternatives like holosun or vortex sparc ar appear ideal.

my LGS is a vortex dealer so i'm waiting on the new amg uh-1 to arrive at the end of this month.  i'll definitely test drive it on my rdb and fs2000 and hopefully x95 if i'm able to snag on by then.

if your RDB is going to be a range toy then it seems magnified optics almost always end up replacing red dot solutions.

anyway, enjoy your RDB...it is one smooth shooting bullpup.

I just received my RDB today.  Is there a way to find out manufacture date from the serial number? It appears to be well made and balanced quite well.  I will take it to the range on Thursday.

I have the PA 1-6 with the KISS reticle, and so far I'm really liking that combo.

I went with the Bushnell 1-4x AR scope with BTR FFP reticle...though I'm still waiting to receive my RDB to try it out

I put a Primary Arms 3X scope with the ACSS reticle in it on my new RFB. Other than the weight, near one pound, it is magnificient!

After sighting in I removed it, swapped the base around and moved it forward to fine tune eye relief and it came right back to zero!!

Nicely done!

I just got my RDB and installed a set of MagPul BUIS on it. I am looking for an optic as well.

I contacted Kel Tec customer support and gave them the serial number from my RDB. They provided me with a manufacturer date of my rifle (12/2016) within a couple of days…… ;D

while I am very happy with the PA 3X ACSS I have decided to replace it with their 1-6 variable with the acss reticle for faster CQB acquisition and more magnification at longer ranges. Love the reticle, it functions as good as any red dot I have used, but like the idea of variable power. The $1300 freight for the Vortex is only $100 less than what I paid for the rifle itself!!

I wont put my Eotech on it because it is so wide at the base that I rap my knuckles on the mount everytime I rack the action. With the 3X I reversed the base which gave me adequate knuckle room. Hoping the 1-4 mount will allow me to do the same thing and that the light knob wont interfere because there is no way to make that go away.

The SIG range store is only 15 miles from me and I have trained there many times. The Romeo4 looks real nice if you fancy it.

Since the RDB is somewhat lightweight, I didn’t want to put a heavy optic on top.  Consider it more of a CQB weapon than a long range sniper weapon.  Went with a Holosun HS503GU RDS on mine.
