Title: Who has gotten impatient/tired of waiting and bought something else?
Post by: Ascinder on July 03, 2017, 06:06:46 PM
Not trying to start a bash DT thread. But what have you bought to tide you over in the meantime. I caved and picked up an SRS this weekend. Damn the trigger is good and the action smooth and precise. Faith temporarily boosted in DT. I also picked up a PMR 30 from keltec a couple weeks ago. Decent little gun. Ran 200 rounds through it with 2 FTFs within the first 10 shots fired. After that, zero issues.

I'll admit I did buy a Hillary gun that I wouldn't have bought if the MDR had shipped when originally promised, but I didn't cancel my order. And I've bought and sold a few others too.

Wait. Scratch they. They were all lost in a tragic boating accident. I knew I shouldn't have taken the entire collection along.

I haven't gotten the SRS...yet.  Once the house sells, I'm treating myself to either an SRS A1 or a Steyr SSG-08 to go along with the SSG-04.  Besides that, I've picked up several other things that require a 4473 to take home, but none were purchased because I was impatient or tired of waiting for the MDR.

Did get an SRS-A1 b/c got tired of waiting. Still on the group buy for the time being.... but starting to get tempted to withdraw and take the $$$ towards a downpayment on a new motorcycle.....

I've been thinking about getting a HTI in .375 but this whole MDR situation makes me NOT want to give DT money.

Looking at Speed Triple R.... new to liter bikes, looking at something more predictable for first one.

I'm tired of hearing how other people are fed up and how they plan to move on. If you are fed up move to a different area of the forum (or go to a different forum all together).

I just want to see MDR news, occasional speculation, and when it is released Reviews

Yeah....CZ BREN instead of waiting on the MDR 5.56...which will be 2020 before it is released probably.

So, I haven't ... yet. Mainly because of two things:

1. Using my GI bill, I have an influx of money
2. What I would like in replacement hasn't come out yet

So basically, I'm going to wait to see if they can get the .308 model out before what I want comes out. If so, I'll ask some questions about the 5.56 model and then make a decision. If not, my decision is easy.

Here's the thing, after three years of speculation and no reviews, and no rifles, there really is nothing left to talk about except the when and why of delivery to market - is there? It has all been covered.

Anything outside of talking about DT's delays/etc. is just a rehash of what has been said before or speculation and even then it is mostly a rehash.

So let's just close the whole MDR sub-forum until at least a single rifle is delivered, for use, to somebody independent of DT!  ::)

I don't understand. No one in this thread made a remark about being fed up. I am still in the group buy waiting (im)patiently for the MDR. I think many here still are. Can we not turn this thread into another bickerfest? It's just a thread to pass the time and present any distractions you are using to stave off the MDR delivery jitters.

I also bought a Hornady Lock n' Load AP progressive press and a bunch of gear for it. That will make press #7 for me. Anyone looking to get into reloading? ;D

It's not yet but the usual suspects shall we say

And would love to get into reloading but funds aren't there right now unless someone knows a trick to getting started for cheap. Actually might be an interesting actually MDR related conversation about what sort of loads would work well in such a rifle. I know coldbore did some ammo test with it and maybe he could chime in.

I've been thinking about it, but I'm not sure I want to devote the time to perfect it.  The idea of reloading is one that I really like, but the actual application of it, that's where things sort of break down.  If I knew someone local who was into it, that might make a difference, but as it stands I'm pretty much the only person who has an interest in shooting and actually does something about it in my local circle of friends.

Needless to say, they're probably not going to be allowed on the lifeboat should the "waters" rise.  ;-)

I picked up a couple 5.56 MCXs.  A pistol and a rifle, with a 300 BO barrel for the pistol.  Something fun to hold me over until my MDR.  I looked at the X95, but the magazine is too close to the pistol grip for me.  The MDR pictures show a lot more space.  I haven't looked at the Tavor 7 yet, but that work if it comes out before the MDR.

Speaking of which, I really hope DT does not rush the MDR out just to get to market before the Tavor 7.  I'm fine waiting a few more months, but I doubt they will give us any realistic timelines...

Actually, I was mostly busy with helping others shoot my own toys. Still, I wasn't that interested.

I've handled the Tavor before, but it just didn't do anything for me and suffers from the same problem that a lot of Israeli accessory parts suffer from; they look like toys or militarized NERF accessories with all the rakish angles, protrusions, and attempts to look "cool" or "tactical".  I guess I prefer more utilitarian designs.

Title: Re: Who has gotten impatient/tired of waiting and bought something else?

The MDR is going to be my first long gun. My wife and I have pistols, but no rifles/shotguns yet. I (mostly) convinced her of the utility of a semi-auto rifle, and we agreed to get one. So I ordered an MDR in 5.56 last July because it looks like everything I want in a rifle (aside from that little thing called availability).

I've been tempted many times to just cancel my order and get a nice AR or a Tavor, but both of those platforms lack some characteristics of the MDR that I want (compactness, caliber interchangeability, forward ejection, or accuracy). If I get a different rifle, however, it will be a couple of years before my budget and marital harmony will support purchasing a $2k+ MDR. As much as I want a rifle right now, it's worth it to me to wait for the rifle I really want. But man, it can be pretty tough to stick it out sometimes.

You will probably wait quite some time for the 5.56 variant from the looks of things. DT is releasing the 308 first and have not mentioned the 5.56 in a long time.

Right. The most recent info I saw was a forum member posting a day or two ago saying that he called DT and was told his 5.56 is currently expected to ship in September.

I bought the Aug.
Like it.
Don't need anything else.
It'll do anything any other BP will do and won't break.
Don't want a 308 BP.
Would like a 6.5 Grendel BP.

It's simple - the two of you don't own or run the forum, and people have different opinions.
Other threads are available - no one is forcing someone to click on a thread where the subject line is clearly evident for all before clicking into it.

RE: original topic.
No, haven't pulled funds yet for either the .308 or 5.56 MDR.  I was considering changing my BPF GB from the 5.56 to the .308 and swapping my Oakland $$ to 5.56 as I expect the BPF orders will go through first, but I never did get a response back from Oakland.

Already having an AUG + 9mm kit, there aren't that many rifles of that much appeal to me...not to mention there's another 1k+ per MDR for optics once they hopefully actually arrive.
I considered picking up a CZ Scorpion or SIG MPX for a bit, and would still like to get some hands-on with both of those, but again - what do they do that my AUG in 9mm doesn't?

I might buy a Tavor if I came across one at a truly good $, but it would need to be cheap, as I've got more than enough hands-on with one, and for me, the AUG is far and away a better rifle (which my buddy with the Tavor also agrees with).
Tavor in .308?  Assuming the MDR makes it into actual production and is reliable...I don't see the point.

What I SHOULD have been doing, but let life get in the way of, was getting paperwork and suppressor(s) sorted.  Meh.  That's still on the list... :-/

I also still need a second AUG to keep both 9mm and 5.56 as separate rifles.  The conversion can be done very quickly, but the 9mm configuration just screams perfect bedside or truck gun, so would like to keep both configurations available...even if it means yet another $1K for another optic.  Been sort of waiting to see what happens with the Atrax before going down that path, but should sort it out this year.  (and please, no one revive the MDR w/Glock mag photoshop - really hope that happens, but obviously they really need to get the core rifle out and reliable FIRST..)

That's fine to say, but it seems that no matter the thread, it devolves when the complainers arrive and start browbeating everyone with their belief that if you're still part of the GB or pre-purchase you're some sort of sucker or idiot because DT will *never* release the rifle.  I'm all for civil discourse, but it has to be a two way street.

Who has gotten impatient/tired of waiting and bought something else?

not as impatient now that i'm trying to track down the x95 locally.  i'm wanting it to be my go to for home defense...so i'm thinking the surefire m300 with dual switch along with the new vortex amg uh-1 (my LGS is a vortex vendor - end of month hopefully)...savvy sling...afg2...should be good to go.

i didn't preorder the MDR...not the preordering type.  i prefer to see how it's received, reviews and community feedback that typically suss out any issues if any with a new firearm.  funding is there though so i'm locked and loaded for it.

I finally broke down, violated my "never Kel-Tec again" policy and picked up an RDB when I found out how much less expensive they were than I expected.

I fully blame Frostburg, HBeretta, Tim from MAC, and one of my friends who kept letting me shoot his.

Of course, with my typical KT experiment luck, I received it a few days ago, unboxed it, and broke it within a couple of minutes.

I fondled it, slapped in a mag, and ran the charging handle. The bolt failed to lock in place upon return, the trigger is slack, and the charging handle slides freely back and forth.

I was too disappointed and have been too busy to investigate further. I'm not sure I want to begin taking apart and troubleshooting a new rifle, but I dislike the thought of having to send it back to KT. I guess I'll call KT on Monday and see if it needs to go back to Cocoa for some Florida R&R.

Hopefully, my RDB experience will improve going forward.

Empty or loaded mag when fondling your RDB?  Empty will give the floating charging handle and no trigger pull until you close the bolt...all this after charging on empty mag.

Someone should start a company producing aftermarket product fixes and upgrades for Keltec. I have the PMR30 and so far it has ran great, but the slide release(which Keltec says isn't a slide release) is a cheap dinky plastic piece. Numerous people have reported it breaking and becoming lost. It's such a small piece that would cost very little to stamp out of heavy guage sheetmetal. Also they need a different mag release for that gun or a way to make it a little more firm.

IiRC the KSG had issues with the foregrip breaking, especialky when a VFG was installed. Why not make it out of aluminum? A lot of of Keltecs issues seem to be plastic parts trying to do the jobs of metal ones and not quite making it.

Wait, what happened? If you inserted an empty mag and worked the action, as Hberetta stated, then the charging handle will remain slack until you send the bolt home. If the bolt failed to lock open and was thus closed, then the spring tension should have kept the charging handle fixed forward. The trigger should have not been slack. I'm sorry this happened to you. The RDB is normally a dream to shoot. I suspect there may be operator error involved here, or you just got a bad luck RDB. The empty magazine you used may not have activated the bolt hold open.  I hope your problem gets resolved.

Yeah, Keltec definitely needs to work on their QC. I've heard that they have made improvements to recent iterations of the RDB, but obviously work still needs to be done. I would, however, still like to see aftermarket support for the RDB. There are a few things I think can be improved; mainly the gas adjust needs to have more distinct settings, they should be marked, and ideally there should be a way to lock each setting in place. I would also like to see the bolt release button redesigned. I feel like some quality GHW products would be very welcome lol. I wonder if any garage engineers could whip something up, or even make a 3D printed prototype of some parts. Eventually, getting the barrel free floated would be awesome, but I'm not that concerned about that one.

Well after switching my MDR order on June 12 to an SRS covert 300wm.... I have yet to receive a tracking number. So if you are switching your order, know that for $3k more you can be on another DTA back order that is looking like it is going to take as long as my last know MDR date of September. Hope its a shooter because I could have built 4 TAC 20 300wms for the same price and got them same week.

To me the Tavor and RDB mag release are pretty much the same. Only the Tavor's is further away and requires more reach. Then again, I have skinny hands and wrist.

Lol yeah it was like "2 weeks" when I ordered it. I waited 2 weeks... now it has been 2 weeks every week when I call. 2 weeks ago it was actually 1 week. but then last week it was 2 weeks again... I actually tried to source the barrel from short action customs but they were 8 weeks out. so everything is sitting at DTA but maybe they will get it out by end of next week I guess. they have had all the parts for going on the 3rd week now as far as I can tell.

Why not just get a full refund and purchase an SRS from a dealer like Primal Rights? From what I understand, they'll get you an SRS much earlier than September.

EDIT: Maybe this isn't possible, based on your above post that DT is already putting it together for you.

EDIT: Maybe this isn't possible, based on your above post that DT is already putting it together for you.

I ordered with a full size srs barrel. not a stubby covert one.... both are DTA parts but you wont find an SRS covert at any other vender with a full length barrel.

I don't think that's true. I'm pretty sure vendors like Primal Rights that specialize in SRS orders will customize your SRS beyond what Desert Tech will do. Take a look at their website here (http://www.primalrights.com/desert-tech).

I'm not trying to make you change your order or anything—if you're happy with your decision to order from DT (or if you're locked into that decision), I'm sure you're going to get a stellar rifle (eventually  >:D). I just don't think it's accurate to say there aren't any vendors who will put a full length barrel in a Covert.

hmm well I would recommend Master Chiefs approach to anyone else thinking to change order. I have over a month invested now so I am still hoping they can deliver there SRS before snow.

You guys were correct. It was either operator ******edness or stupidly inserting a junk mag I've never used for anything and wouldn't ever use for anything.  :oops

It was an empty thermold mag that came with a rifle when I experienced the issue. With a G2 magpul, it works exactly as described above loaded or empty. This trigger is sort of unbelievable for a bully.

The thermold is in my recycle roll cart.

Thanks very much for the detailed replies. Can't wait to go beat this thing up at the range. It seems perfect for a vehicle combat class.

I bought a CZ Scorpion Evo 3 and a P320 full size, but those were not in lieu of the MDR. I'm still holding out on my pre-order.

Get it.  I picked mine up on Monday and it is hands down, the best production pistol I've ever handled.  The double action pull is silky smooth, the single action is crisp and damned near perfect.  When you couple that with the new sculpting that they've done to the grip, it is a pistol that seems made for your hand.  The only downside is the weight if you plan to carry it, but the weight is a definite benefit in competition.

If you were close to the southern Susquehanna Valley in PA, I'd suggest a range time and you could try it out.

I have two Omegas; a CZ-75B and a CZ-75B Urban Grey, and I really like the trigger.  My SP-01 is the one with the safety only, and I'd say that the triggers are comparable (the 75s using the decocker and the SP-01 using the safety).

It's hit or miss.  A month ago, anything from CZ other than the Urban Grey series seemed to be scarce.  Now, they must have gotten a shipment in through customs because I'm seeing non-Urban Grey models showing up all over.

Just one word of advice:  if you see one and decide you like it, don't leave it in the case and decide to think it over because it probably won't be there when you return.  I stopped at Trop (one of the largest gunshops in central PA) on July 23rd and they had just received a fairly large shipment.  When I returned on Thursday, they only had four or five of them left.

Thanks for the offer. I'm based in CO and have been shooting the matches around the Front Range.

I have no intent to carry the CZ Shadow 2; it'll be for competition only. I have been shooting a P320 at the matches and have learned, after six months, that the P320 is not cut out to shoot above A, even with a formal trigger job. That being said, the P320 is a fantastic carry/defense gun; I have been CCW the P250.

true story...i had searched for months for a p01 omega and had basically given up and was about to commit to the standard p01 which were scarce as well.  for some odd reason i decided to change my search engine from google to bing and saw a 2-3 day old listing on texas gun trader for a p01 omega.  i frantically called him to see if he still had it and was surprised he did.  i low balled the guy offering $500...guess he was desperate and drove across town and included a box of ammo as well.  gun was basically brand new.  loved it and used it for quite a bit but was an idiot one evening after cleaning it and nudged it off the counter accidentally while letting the dog out.  the drop dented the front sight and lanyard loop and scratched the slide slightly.  i'm OCD with my guns so this f'd me up.  incidentally, someone on the czforums posted p01 omegas available on riflegear.com, which is the common courtesy on the forum since they're so scarce.  they had four in stock.  wife and i have a kid in college so i can't just throw $600 at anything and everything i see on a whim without running it by her so i told her i'd sell mine.  i knew riflegear.com would sell out by morning and did by midnight.  i listed my used omega for $550 on texas gun trader and it literally sold later that evening or early morning....phone was blowing up at 2am.  dude drove up 40 miles that morning while constantly texting pleading to sell to him and not anyone else, while other offers came in.  little did the wife know, i bought the one on riflegear.com earlier that evening prior to mine selling, but knew it would.  i'd always wanted one brand new anyway although my initial p01 omega was mint.  so it was basically a lateral move for me with the riflegear.com one selling for $599.  the guy asked why i was selling and didn't have the heart to tell him his money was going to a brand new one.

sorry for the long @ss story but anyone who's tried to chase down a p01 omega until late understands what a true unicorn is.

Did someone say CZ? I picked up a sp01 back in aug last yr and sent it down to cajun gunworks for their pro duty package. Mine is the manual saftey version. Now sports a flat trigger, retained the firing pin stop/saftey, 2lb 14oz break on a 3mm reset. Checkmate race hammer, and the only one of its kind at this time, an accurized bushing threaded barrel. I can bench this thing and and put bullets in bullet holes at 15yrds. Anything further I dont have the skills. Also found a kadet 22lr upper for it. Back in March picked up a Dan Wesson Discretion in .45acp. Its their suppressor ready 1911. Sickest 1911 trigger I've ever felt. Picked up a p10c last weekend. Shot it last weekend for the first time (other than the first 50 I threw through through it huridly on a lunch break one day to feel her out) and shot a IDPA based match with it. Came in 6 of 39 guys. All gun. Love me some CZ.

Yeah the P-01 Omegas are still hard to find.
I looked at the Sphinx and did a lot of reading on the two and I decided the Sphinx extra cost wasn't worth it.  I could take that extra money and put it in the CZ and have a better gun for the same price.  I was almost ready to buy a P10c but I been hearing people having issues with certian type of ammo or something.
Why doesn't CZ make more pistols in 45acp?
I had a Rex Zero 1 for a short time.   It did shoot good. But the grip was to big for me and it acutally started hurting my hand.  I ended up selling it.  Not sure I pay the over inflated price they are asking for it now though.

Ok what kind of Bike did you get?  Did you get a bike with a Banana seat?  I can see you rocking that and picking up the girls.

I do a lot of riding around the neighborhood. Normally 5 to 10 mile rides up and down hills.
I need to get my Garyfisher sugar 3 fixed so I can get back to mountain biking.  But parts are getting hard to find and I don't want to pay another 1300 for a new one.

It's a basic Trek mountain-hybrid bike.  I paid a little over $300 for it. Given what I've spent this summer, it was in my price range It's definitely on the less expensive side when it comes to bikes; some can be upwards of $2k and more. But Trek is known for making good bikes, and it's a decent bike for the price. It came with a Bontrager SSR saddle and grips. I bought it three weeks ago and I love it. I definitely need to add front and rear lights, as well as some other things like a bell, mirrors, water bottle holder, and a carrying rack maybe.  I'm hunting for ideas lol

Ah you can't forget about the tassels!  That's atleast a 100 cool points right there!
I normally take something like a camelbak.  Got extra compartment I can keep stuff like a small pistol and stuff.
Since my bike is down I been riding the wifes trex we paid 400 for long ago.  Its hair small for me and not as light as mine put it gets the job done.  I miss my full suspension though. :(

Why doesn't CZ make more pistols in 45acp?

Because the US is a small part of their worldwide market and in the rest of the world 9mm has been the predominant cartridge.  Only a handful of countries ever adopted the 1911 and .45ACP, while the vast majority (including most of the former Warsaw Pact nations, including Russia!) have either always used are are adopting 9mm.

I'll probably do a camelbak for distance adventures. And the tassels and other decorations also sound good. I would like a compartment for flat tire patch kit, sandwiches and miscellaneous supplies if I'm not already wearing a backpack. I never thought about a pistol compartment though. That might take some thought. Bikes are so versatile. You can take them pretty much anywhere. They can carry you and you can carry them. They can go and fit through areas that vehicles cannot, and they consume no fuel, plus they get your legs built if you do lots of uphill, and they can take you farther than you could ever walk. Today, I was actually riding mine inside my university's science building when I needed a break from the sun. Since it's summer break, noone seemed to give a damn or told me to leave lol. They would be great for a SHTF situation in the event that gas stations are shut down, since they require no fuel. You can still get from place to place pretty rapidly.  People in China load them up with tons of gear on the back of them. I imagine they would be easier to maintain than a car, if you had the know-how, but I'm only guessing on that.

Non sequitur, my friend. My not having an MDR does not mean they haven't been released.

I've been just as frustrated as anyone with the smoke and mirrors delays that have been going on in DT's development process. But that process is over. They have delivered MDRs to at least one customer and at least one dealer. Production rifles. They are shipping more as I type this. If you think all that is a hoax, I really don't know what else to say to you.

Not saying it's hoax but I don't believe you'll be getting your rifle in 2017. Who cares if one dealer has one, they've supposedly existed since 2014. When the consumer has them, then I'll believe it

I just bought a 2A Arms Balios matched receiver set to start my wife's lightweight build. Still on the list for the MDR though. I'll most likely do a Faxon pencil barrel. I haven't decided on length yet; I eventually intend to suppress it and I want to keep the OAL and weight pretty low for her. Most likely for the moment I'll buy it as a pistol lower at the FFL when I pick it up but do a 14.5" + pinned/welded compensator so I can keep it with a rifle stock. Whenever I get the suppressor I'll probably just do a new shorter barrel for her at that point and either put a pistol brace on it or *sigh* do the SBR paperwork. We shall see. I still have to do some research and make sure none of that will run afoul of the ATF and their mystic ways.

This is the craziest thing I've ever seen! This is the coolest looking AR I've ever seen! Like, it should be famous or something.

Which consumers hands? Oakland tactical?
I don't believe a word dt utters. Seeing wil be believing. And once they are released let's see what the final product looks like, it seems to be that there is still stumbling right now with the loose charging handle.

It's a good thing that we're going to have a total eclipse in a week and a half...because something momentous had to happen because I agree with Potss...  ;-)

If the rifle turns out promising a few years down the line, I'll pick up a used one.

Why used?

Obviously all he can afford and thats why all the negativity. Just a bit of jealousy and teeth gnashing over the release of the MDR that he can't have/afford. ;)

Ok, not a gun, but I picked up a bunch of support equipment for the SRS. An Eberlestock G3 Phantom, a Bushnel Elite 1mile Arc CONX with a Kestrel Sportsman with Applied ballistics and bluetooth. Also, a bunch  more reloading crap and a couple tripods for the rangefinder and wind meter. Looking at the Bushnell Legend T spotting scope once it's in stock.

Yeah when anticipation gets too much I order stuff ear marked for the MDR.

So far: 3,000+ rounds .308 (600 Fed Gold Medal Match, 400 rounds 168gr Amax,  200 rounds Hornady 178gr Eld-x, 100 rounds each 150gr Superformace SST and Interbond, 160 rounds 150gr Hornady American Whitetail, 1000 Armscor 147gr FMJ, 500 PMC 147gr FMJ) hopefully enough of a volume and cross section to give her a good testing.

A bunch of Lancer Mags, new sling, and a pelican case.

I've been stocking up for the MDR too - Sling, reloading equipment, 200 rounds already set up for a ladder test (hope I did it right because it's my first time and it was a lot of work), Lancer mags, I just ordered a new VX-6HD and am hopefully going to get a Bobro mount for it soon.

Not to mention my wife's lightweight AR I'm collecting pieces for.

I canceled my order just over a year ago in .223.  When they announced that the .308 was going to be released first and then everything went south quickly, I pulled my order - just could not afford to lose $2000.  The project seemed to be in trouble.  When recently checking on LE pricing and was told that .223 was going to be awhile and zero plans for the 9mm, I was glad I cancelled my order since those were my two primary calibers of need.  So I purchased an X95 instead in 9mm.  Will see what pans out with the MDR in .223.  I am encouraged by the MDR .308 - the gun looks solid, really well built. BUT will need to see far more in production and an accurate .223 before I am willing to plunk down $2K+.  May just purchase an X95/.223 and a Tavor 7 in 300BLK - both together would be roughly equivalent to the cost of the MDR .223 and 300BLK conversion.  Time will tell.

The weight gain really put me off as well as the question mark of when the 6.5 creedmoor would be released so I pieced together this guy. I didn't cancel my preorder, but at this point it's got to REALLY impress me for me to keep it.

Great looking build, I  have a few questions for you:

1.) Total weight?

2.) How do you like the Smoke Composite stock?

3.) Groups with the poof?

Seeing the build with the carbon fiber barrel, I thought about the discussions of having one made for the MDR and one thing came to mind:  Would the reduced weight negatively alter the rifle's balance to the point where some of the ease of use disappeared?

It isn't a Proof barrel it appears to be a Christensen Arms

Naked my total weight was 6.25 lbs... as pictured it’s 10 even.

Smoke Composites is probably the best company I’ve ever dealt with, seriously. I went with their “short pull” stock and added on the buttpad. If you go with that stock for a large frame build make sure you email them and request their “spring retainer” with the closed end. The stock is beautiful in person and saved me some weight. Only thing I had to different with it was get lower scope rings than what I usually use on an ar style rifle.

As noted by steelviper my barrel is indeed the Christensen 20in rifle length 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. I got such a good deal on it I couldn’t justify going for the proof... also comparable proof is heavier. Lightest option would of been the Faxon 18in but that’s 308 only I believe (2a armament also has one but it is also made by Faxon).

Apart from zeroing and shooting out a couple hundred yards I only shot for groups once. My four five shot groups were from .75 to 1 inch at 100 yards. That was with the Hornady 129 grain whitetail stuff. It was all I could get before heading out.

That's a fine piece of work! Incidentally, your lightweight 308/6.5CM build list is what put me onto the 2A Balios Lite - Thanks!

Quasi-lightweight - I'm most likely going with a full-mass bcg but all other major components will be light. Faxon pencil barrel at 11.5", tailhook mod 2 as soon as it's available. Haven't decided if I'm willing to spend the extra on little bits like titanium takedown pins. Easy enough to upgrade those in the future if desired.

My wife's AR is finished but for optics and an eventual suppressor. I decided I wasn't going to wait for the Tailhook mod 2 and went with a mod 1 instead. The sling is non-adjustable and not really made for an AR, but in this case, aesthetics trumped functionality. It works well enough and she loves the look.

Haha, you got me. It's for my imaginary wife so I can feel better about myself for making a girl gun.

P.S. Because this is the internet: I'm joking, it's for my real wife. I think I did have more fun building it than she will shooting it. She's not really into guns, but I'm trying to entice her.

Thanks a lot! I wish I could take credit for the handguard, but all I did was the duracoat. It came from offhandgear.com.
